Gumbo Soup Mix

Our Gumbo Soup Mix provides a convenient, authentic Cajun/Creole base, combining dried vegetables (onions, bell peppers), rice, and spices. Our mix simplifies preparation to a 30-35 minute simmer, often requiring only added water, sausage, or chicken to create a rich, hearty, and thick stew.

You will need:

5-1/2 cups water

3 tbsp olive oil

3 tbsp flour

1 lb cooked Italian sausage, sliced

1 large cooked chicken breast, diced

Directions: Add entire contents of the package to 5-1/2 cups of boiling water. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. In a separate saucepan, combine olive oil and flour, cook on low and stir until caramel colored. Set aside. After 20 minutes, add cooked meat and the oil/flour mixture to the soup pot. Bring to boil. Immediately, reduce heat to low simmer. Stir, cover and simmer an additional 15 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally.

Contains: Enriched long grain rice, dehydrated vegetbles (onion, red bell pepper, carrot, celery), file seasoning (dehydrated vegetables [garlic, onion, parsley]), salt, spices, sugar, hydrolyzed soy protein, oleoresin in turmeric, spice extractive, oleoresin celery. (Silicon dioxide added to prevent caking.)
