Purpose of Fundraiser: Community 4th of July Celebration — Teen Enrichment Focus I am starting this fundraiser to launch our community’s first annual 4th of July Celebration with a specific focus on engaging local teens in year‑round, structured activities. Last November my son was severely injured in an incident that highlighted a larger problem in our neighborhood: many young people have too much unstructured free time and not enough safe, positive outlets. That lack of constructive activities contributes to risky situations and harm — and it nearly cost my family everything. This fundraiser will support: Safe, recurring teen programs: weekly and monthly activities (sports, arts, mentorship circles) that give teens consistent, supervised ways to spend their time. Skill-building workshops: job-readiness, conflict resolution, leadership, and creative classes to expand opportunities and reduce risky behavior. Event funding for the 4th of July Celebration: a free, welcoming community event that introduces the programs, connects families with resources, and provides positive role models. Outreach and transportation: ensuring teens who need support can attend programs and events regardless of cost or transit barriers. Volunteer and mentorship recruitment: training and small stipends for community mentors who can offer reliable adult supervision. Why this matters Personal urgency: My son’s injury showed how quickly a lack of structure can lead to dangerous outcomes; this fundraiser is driven by a desire to prevent other families from experiencing the same pain. Prevention through engagement: Regular, meaningful activities reduce idle time, build community ties, and lower the chances of teens being involved in unsafe situations. Long-term benefits: Skill-building and mentorship increase academic success, employment prospects, and positive self‑image for participating youth. Community resilience: A well-run, inclusive celebration and ongoing programs strengthen neighborhood trust and create a safer environment for everyone. Planned impact (first year) Launch the 4th of July Celebration as a free flagship event introducing the teen programs. Fund 6 months of weekly teen activities and 4 major skill workshops. Recruit and train at least 10 mentors/volunteers. Provide transportation stipends or passes for 50 teens in need. Call to action Donate to help launch these programs and the inaugural celebration. Volunteer time or skills to mentor, supervise activities, or help run events. Help spread the word so more families and potential supporters learn about this effort.
